
The Challenge for Charities, a 2 1/2-month long community fund raising event that peaks with the Lander Half Marathon and 5K. The race will be held in Lander, Wyoming on Thursday, July 4th, 2013.
Lander is based at the foothills of the Wind River Range. The racecourse is both a scenic and challenging route through beautiful rolling hills along paved country roads.

Registration information
Online advance registration is available now through http://www.active.com/running/lander-wy/lander-half-marathon-and-5k-challenge-for-charities-2013. Registrations can be made the day prior to the race as at a slightly higher fee.
You can also download a Race Registration 2013 form and mail it to the Lander Community Foundation at P.O. Box 1131, Lander, WY 82520. Pre-event registration pick-up

Parking: There is ample on-street parking nearby. Do not park on Main Street—your vehicle will be towed.

8:30 a.m. - Family Fun: Jump Rope Competition for ages 5-12 (registration at 8 a.m.)

Runner Awards
Nonprofit bucks will be awarded to the male and female overall and age group 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The winners will donate their nonprofit bucks to their favorite participating nonprofit.
Half Marathon Runners: Overall Male and Female 1st, 2nd and 3rd and age group awards are given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, for both men and women 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Half Marathon Walkers: Overall Male and Female winners 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and combined male and female age categories 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
5K Competitive Runners: Overall Male and Female winners 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and age categories male and female 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Best in Show Costume: 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Race Logistics
- Only walkers, runners, baby strollers/joggers and wheel chairs are permitted. For safety reasons, no other wheeled transport (bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, etc) is allowed. Run or walk on the right side of the road and be aware of vehicle traffic
- The competitive Half Marathon and 5K are timed and may include minors, with parental consent.
- The 5K fun run is a non-competitive, non-timed event and may include minors, with parental consent.
- Dogs are not welcome at this event. We apologize for the limitation.

Course Description
Half Marathon: The Lander Half Marathon follows a beautiful rolling loop course on paved country roads in the scenic foothills of the Wind River Mountains. The race begins and ends at Centennial Park in the 200 block of Main Street in Lander. From Centennial Park, the course proceeds west on Main Street for 1 mile to Baldwin Creek Road. This is where the course turns west and follows the Baldwin Creek-Squaw Creek loop road for the next 11 miles. Racers re-enter Lander on Fremont Street, turn left on Fifth Street, then right on Main Street for the final 0.3 miles to the finish line. Click here to view the course map in a separate window.

Aid Stations
Half Marathon and 5K Start and Finish Line Aid Station: Race participants will be provided with complimentary water, Gatorade, ice, bananas, oranges and bagels with cream cheese.
Half Marathon Aid Stations: There will be four aid stations along the Half Marathon route. These aid stations will be situated at approximately miles 4, 6.5, 8.5 and 11. Se map for exact locations. Also, the route will be marked about a week prior to the race. Each station will provide race participants with Gatorade, water, ice and gels.
5K Aid Stations: An aid station will be situated at the start and finish line for the 5K route. This station will provide race participants with water, Gatorade, ice, bananas, oranges and bagels with cream cheese.
Breakfast: A complimentary breakfast will be served for race participants from 8-9:30 a.m. Non-race participants are welcome to enjoy breakfast with the race participants for a nominal fee.
